The Disney Download Problem
It’s been nearly a year since Disney released their streaming service, and they’ve managed to stay ahead of the competition in a market filled with numerous new streaming apps. Disney Plus remains a must-have subscription service, with exclusives including The Mandalorian and the new WandaVision, as well as one of the biggest collections of legacy content available today.
In addition to expanding its catalog, the company has spent the last year improving its app across all platforms by introducing some much-needed features. Disney hasn’t been slow to upgrade their service for all users, from major improvements like the GroupWatch feature, which lets you and up to seven friends stream a movie at the same time, to minor changes like the ability to log out of all devices or allow a data-saving feature.
Of course, there’s always space for development in the future, including adding support for devices like Windows and macOS. While Disney Plus can be used in web browsers on both platforms, doing so means you’ll miss out on one of the app’s most valuable features: the ability to share content. Aid can be downloaded. Download support helps you to take your media offline, allowing you to continue streaming without using up your data plan or having to rely on the internet at all. Although there are some restrictions on how Disney handles downloads, the inability to download media to your PC is always frustrating.
How to Stream Disney Plus on Your Computer
First and foremost, if you’re using a Mac, the only way to watch Disney Plus on your device is to open your preferred web browser and go straight to the app. It’s unfortunate, but it is what it is.
Now, for all of you who use Windows. Although you won’t be able to download anything using this method anytime soon, if you’d rather use an app than go to Disney’s website every time you want to watch the MCU, you’re in luck. Disney Plus comes with a complete progressive web app (PWA) experience, and all you have to do is use Chrome or Edge to access it. We’ll use Chrome as an example since it’s by far the most popular browser on the market right now.
- Go to the Disney Plus website.
- In Chrome, click the menu icon in the upper-right corner.
- Pick Create Shortcut from the More Tools menu.
- Change the name of your shortcut.
- Create your shortcut by checking the “Open as Window” box.
Disney Plus will open in its own window and have its app icon in your Windows 10 taskbar. On Windows 10, you can pin the app to your taskbar, and it will open in its browser, giving you a direct, app-like experience.
How to Install Disney Plus on an iOS or Android Device
You’re in luck if you have an Android or iOS device (tablet or phone). On both platforms, Disney has a fantastic app that works flawlessly. This app allows you to download any kind of material.
If you want this to go smoothly, you’ll need a strong Wi-Fi link with a good download speed. Here’s how to set the download quality before you start downloading. Open the app after it has been installed on your smartphone. In the bottom-right corner of your browser, tap on your profile. Then go to App Settings and then Download Quality.
Here is a list of video quality options, including normal, low, and large (probably ranging from 480p and 720p to 1080p). Choose the quality based on the storage capacity of your device; however, if you have room, we suggest going for high-quality material. Simply follow these steps to add Disney Plus to your mobile device.
- Step 1- On your phone or tablet, launch the Disney Plus app.
- Step 2- Choose the title you’d like to download (movie or TV show). Since there is so much to choose from, this is perhaps the most difficult aspect.
- Step 3- Next to the Play button, just below the title of the movie or broadcast, tap the Download button.
- Step 4- The content can download at your internet connection speed, but it shouldn’t take long.
Simply follow the steps above to queue up several downloads at the same time. If you’re downloading TV shows, you can download as many episodes as you want.
You can view your downloads on the Disney Plus app until you’ve finished downloading. It can be found in the app’s bottom right corner (download icon). Simply tap it to see all of your downloads.
Although it’s disappointing that Disney Plus doesn’t provide downloads for Windows 10 or macOS (something Netflix and Amazon do, at least on the Windows side), the ability to run Disney Plus in its own app window is a significant advantage. And, well, you can still download your favorite movies and shows to watch on the go on your phone or tablet.
